A Babka You Can Really Make

The Jewish coffee cake.

Ingredients 


Babka5-6 cups flour
1/2 oz dried yeast (2 packets)
1 1/2 cups plus 2 Tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 cup milk
1/4 cup canola oil
3 large eggs, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup golden raisins
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
1 large egg yolk mixed with 1 Tablespoon water (egg wash)*
